Angelides Campaign Launches Statewide Student Mobilization Effort

"Students for Phil" To Use Online Tools to Organize Volunteers, Turn Out The Vote

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - California State Treasurer and Democratic nominee for Governor Phil Angelides today held a town hall meeting with students in San Francisco and announced the launch of a statewide student mobilization effort - Students for Phil. Led by Angelides' daughter Megan, Students for Phil will utilize innovative online technology at Angelides.com to organize and mobilize students throughout California.

"Students and young Californians have the chance to make the difference in this election," said Angelides. "With the help of young Californians, we will win in November, roll back Arnold Schwarzenegger's tuition and fee increases and put our government back on the side of hard-working middle class families."

Available at www.angelides.com, the Angelides Online Volunteer Center offers Californians supporting Angelides' campaign the opportunity to download precinct walking kits and phone lists, allowing volunteers to organize and contact voters from home. Materials are available in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese.

"Our online volunteer center makes every home, apartment and dorm room a potential campaign office," Angelides added. "Now volunteers throughout California can aid our campaign from the comfort of their own home."

In Angelides' primary campaign, volunteers throughout California utilized the tool to contact tens of thousands of voters. Young Democratic organizations throughout the state held phone banks in homes throughout California and collectively contacted more than 40,000 voters.
