Angelides Statement on Minimum Wage Agreement

SACRAMENTO, CA - California State Treasurer and Democratic nominee for Governor Phil Angelides issued the following statement today:

"For close to three years, Governor Schwarzenegger has done the maximum to block a minimum wage increase and now that he is trying to save his own job he is giving minimum support to the minimum wage. Schwarzenegger twice vetoed legislation to increase the minimum wage, denying 1.4 million Californians more than $2,000 a year in needed income. When I am governor I will sponsor legislation from day one to index the minimum wage to inflation so that the livelihoods of hard working families are not held hostage to politics and they are not pushed into poverty by inflation."
